Episode 13: How to give your small wedding a Ritz caliber vibe

In this episode, you get to meet Allan Zuckerman, owner of Beach Breeze Weddings. He wears many different hats in his business for small weddings — from officiant, to event designer to handyman to source of comedic relief.

Allan joins us today to discuss creating a personal and connecting ceremony, how his theatrical background helps his role as officiant, and the importance of preparedness.

For Allan, the most important part of any wedding is making it about the couple and their guests. If you let them shine and find out what matters to them, you can make their day. With his background in theater and stand-up comedy, Allan is able to keep the routine fresh by utilizing the environment and the unexpected to keep tensions at bay.

So often a couple are hidden or have their back to their guests during a ceremony. Allan flips this and increases their visibility by having them face ¾ out to the crowd. This way the guests feel more involved and connected to the couple. When it comes to any potential family drama, Allan advises couples to take the high road and focus on the positive over the negative.

Working with weddings also means being prepared for anything and learning to roll with the punches. You have to be able to anticipate problems as they come up.

To end the episode, Allan explains that weddings are all about creating experiences and hopefully making friends along the way.
