Episode 12: How to repurpose your flowers throughout your wedding

The topic of Pinterest gets thrown around a lot in the wedding world — especially when it comes to the look and design of your event. Having a great florist and event planner will help you save money because they know how to get the look you want in a way that makes sense for your budget.

In this episode, Jennie Maretti of Pixies and Petals shares exactly where to start, what you need to bring to your meeting with your florist and the magic of repurposing your floral pieces throughout your wedding day.

Originally a banker, Jennie became more involved in her community and planning events which naturally progressed to wedding planning. Now a wedding planner for 10 years and florist for 5, Jennie has seen it all.

Jennie recommends having your venue already in place before thinking about florals. This is because it makes it easier to customize your arrangements to the surroundings. When budgeting for your flowers, set aside 10% of your overall budget; your plans can always be tweaked if the cost needs to come down or if you find extra money in the budget.

A large part of what Jennie does is designed to minimize stress on your big day. Having experience as a planner comes in handy because it allows her to look at the arrangements and any repurposing from a planner’s perspective. It means she and her staff can lend a hand elsewhere if needed.

With repurposing, Jennie recommends utilizing florals from your ceremony in the reception. It adds to the atmosphere and flow of the wedding as well as maximizes your guests’ experience.

To end the episode, Jennie takes us through the questions you should be asking your florist to make sure you get the best look and value for your florals.
